02How it recruits

In plain words

The Indian Council of Medical Research is India's apex body for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, functioning under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. It recruits Scientists (Scientist B to Scientist G) at its headquarters and across its ~25 permanent research institutes, alongside project-linked JRF/SRF and technical staff on individual funded research projects, and administrative/technical support staff. Vacancies are published on its own dedicated recruitment portal.

ICMR recruits mainly through a written examination followed by an interview, or a direct interview, without a separate written exam. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B/contractual.
