The National Institute of Wind Energy is an autonomous research institute under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, based in Chennai with a wind turbine testing station at Kayathar near Madurai. It recruits scientists and technical staff for wind-resource assessment and turbine testing through its own selection process, and offers internship and apprenticeship programmes for students.
