| Non-teaching staff recruitment exams (ad-hoc, per institute)NTA is engaged separately by individual central universities/institutes (e.g. Delhi University, Central University of Odisha, IIT Delhi, NITs, AICTE) to conduct one-off CBT recruitment exams for their own non-teaching vacancies. These are announced individually on nta.ac.in as they arise, not on a fixed calendar. | Various non-teaching posts (clerical, technical, administrative) in central universities and institutes such as Delhi University, Central Universities, IITs, NITs, AICTE | Graduate | — | irregular |
| ICAR AIEEA / entrance examinationsAdmission test, not recruitment; listed only for completeness since it is sometimes confused with an ICAR recruitment exam. 02How it recruits
In plain words
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is an autonomous testing body set up by the Government of India to conduct entrance and eligibility examinations. Its main recruitment-relevant work is UGC-NET and the Joint CSIR-UGC NET, which determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and for appointment as Assistant Professor/Lecturer in universities and colleges - actual hiring is done separately by the recruiting institution. NTA is also periodically engaged by individual central universities and institutes (such as Delhi University, other Central Universities, IITs, NITs and AICTE) to conduct one-off computer-based recruitment exams for their own non-teaching staff vacancies; these are announced individually on the NTA website as and when institutes request them, rather than on a fixed annual calendar. NTA's other major examinations (JEE-Main, NEET-UG, CUET, ICAR AIEEA, CMAT, etc.) are admission tests, not recruitment, and are not listed here.
NTA recruits mainly through a written competitive examination, or a candidate's score in a national test such as GATE or NET. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group C/contractual.
