02How it recruits
In plain words
The Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Service (Judicial) examination, commonly called PCS-J, is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission to recruit Civil Judge (Junior Division) for the Uttar Pradesh subordinate judiciary. It is a three-stage process — Preliminary, Mains and Viva-voce — open to law graduates enrolled as advocates. UPPSC is the same commission that conducts the state PCS executive examination but runs the judicial exam as a separate recruitment.
UPPSC (PCS-J) recruits mainly through a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B.
