Applications must be submitted in the prescribed form (available on the JNPA website) by post or e-mail to harbourmaster@jnport.gov.in, along with self-certified copies of supporting certificates/documents, up to the last date of 12 October 2026. Candidates already serving Government/Semi-Government organisations, PSUs or Autonomous Bodies must apply through proper channel and submit a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview. Interviews will be held in person or online, with at least 7 days' notice, at the Deputy Conservator's office, JNPA Administration Building, Navin Sheva, Navi Mumbai.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), one of India's 12 Major Port Authorities under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has invited applications from desirous candidates for engagement as Pilot on a contract basis under Scheme-I or Scheme-II in its Marine Department. Applicants must be Indian nationals holding a Master (Foreign-Going) Certificate of Competency, with at least one year of sailing experience as Chief Officer or above on foreign-going ships; candidates holding a foreign Certificate of Competency recognised by India must obtain the relevant endorsement from the Directorate General of Shipping. The upper age limit is 55 years at the time of entry into pilotage service for contractual pilots. Reservation is applicable as per Government of India guidelines, and applicants must attach self-certified copies of qualification, competency and caste certificates (including the OBC non-creamy-layer certificate where applicable) with their application, producing originals at the time of interview. Candidates already employed with Government, Semi-Government organisations, PSUs or Autonomous Bodies must apply through proper channel and submit a No Objection Certificate at interview. Under the contract terms, a newly engaged pilot serves as a Trainee Contract Pilot until obtaining a Pilotage licence from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, following a training period of six months or more that includes two months' training at Mumbai Port Authority and an ELPT course conducted by the Indian Maritime University. Remuneration is structured by pilotage tonnage slab, rising from Rs 1,50,000 per month during training to Rs 3,75,000 per month for a Full Tonnage Pilot, with a 6% yearly increment on the Base and Fixed Incentive components after completing one year as a Full Tonnage Pilot.
