Eligible sports persons who are citizens of India must apply ONLINE only, by visiting www.rrc-wr.com and using the link to the online application for recruitment against Sports Quota to fill in personal details, bio-data, sports achievements and other required information, and pay the application fee online through the integrated payment gateway. Online applications open from 01.09.2026, 10:00 hrs, and close on 30.09.2026, 18:00 hrs. A candidate applying for more than one pay level must submit separate applications with separate fees. All eligible candidates will be called for a selection trial; original documents of date of birth, educational qualification and sports achievements must be produced at the time of trial.

The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Western Railway, has invited online applications (Employment Notice No. RRC/WR/01/2026, dated 27.08.2026) from eligible Indian sports persons for recruitment against the Open Advertisement Sports Quota for the year 2026-27. A total of 64 posts are on offer across three 7th CPC pay levels — 21 posts of Group 'C' spread across Level 5/4 (Grade Pay Rs. 2800/2400) and Level 3/2 (Grade Pay Rs. 2000/1900), and 43 posts of erstwhile Group 'D' at Level 1 — covering disciplines such as Athletics, Gymnastics, Hockey, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Cricket, Diving, Football, Swimming, Powerlifting, Boxing, Body Building, Cycling, Handball, Basketball, Kho-Kho and Ball Badminton, among others. There is no reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen categories in this sports quota recruitment. Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as on 01.01.2027 (born between 01.01.2002 and 01.01.2009). The minimum educational qualification varies by pay level: a graduate degree for Level 5/4, and 12th pass, or Matriculation with Course Completed Act Apprenticeship or an NCVT/SCVT-approved ITI, or plain 10th pass/ITI/National Apprenticeship Certificate, for Level 3/2 and Level 1 respectively. Selection is through a Trial Committee assessment of game skill, physical fitness and coach's observations (candidates must score at least 25 of 40 marks to be found fit), combined with marks for sporting achievements and educational qualification. The non-refundable application fee is Rs. 500 for general candidates (Rs. 400 refunded to those found eligible who appear for trial) and Rs. 250 for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwD/Women/Minority/Economically Backward Class candidates (with the same refund provision), payable online only. Online registration is open from 01.09.2026 (10:00 hrs) to 30.09.2026 (18:00 hrs) through the RRC Western Railway website (www.rrc-wr.com). Candidates applying for more than one pay level must submit separate applications with separate fees, and selected candidates may be posted anywhere on Western Railway.
