The High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi has invited applications, vide Advertisement No. 01/Recruitment Cell/2026, for the engagement of 25 Law Researchers/Research Associates to assist Hon'ble Judges, on a contractual basis. The engagement is for a term of one year, extendable once for a further year, so the maximum period of engagement is two years, and carries a consolidated honorarium of Rs. 40,000 per month with no other allowance or benefit; the engagement does not confer employee status under the High Court or the State Government. Eligible candidates must be aged between 21 and 28 years as on the date of the advertisement, and must be a fresh Law Graduate or Post Graduate from a Bar Council of India-recognised University or College; students in the final (5th) year of a 5-year law course or final year of a 3-year LLB course may also apply, subject to passing their final examination before engagement, but candidates pursuing a further postgraduate law degree requiring compulsory attendance are not eligible. Only candidates who passed all their examinations in the first attempt with at least 60% aggregate marks are eligible. A practising-lawyer applicant's candidature must be recommended by a designated Senior Advocate, while a non-lawyer applicant needs recommendation from the head of the last law school/college/university attended; familiarity with computers is a preference factor. Selection is based on merit and interview; shortlisted candidates will be intimated individually by email for the interview, whose schedule and venue will be announced later on the High Court's website. Applications, with the prescribed enclosures (matriculation certificate, mark sheets and degree certificates, the required recommendation letter, and computer certificate if any) as a single PDF of up to 10 MB, must be emailed to rgjhc.jhr@gmail.com between 7 September 2026 and 28 September 2026; no other mode of application is accepted and no advance copy will be entertained. A Law Researcher/Research Associate is barred from private legal practice during the engagement and from appearing before the Judge to whom they were attached for one year after the engagement ends, and must maintain strict confidentiality of Court matters. Canvassing in any form leads to rejection of candidature.
