Eligible candidates must apply online through the Online Application Portal (OAP) of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways at onlinevacancy.shipmin.nic.in between 8 September 2026 and 9 October 2026. A printout of the online application, along with all supporting documents/certificates, a No Objection Certificate (for applicants in Government/PSU/Autonomous Body service) and a Vigilance Clearance Proforma, must additionally be sent by post so as to reach the Secretary, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Port Area, Visakhapatnam - 530 035, on or before 26 October 2026.

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has invited applications for filling one post of Deputy Chief Law Officer (Class-I) on a regular basis in its Law Division, General Administration Department, by Direct Recruitment. The post carries a pay scale of Rs 60,000-1,80,000, with Dearness Allowance on the IDA pattern and Cafeteria allowances at 35% of Basic Pay, plus Gratuity, HRA or quarters, medical benefits, leave encashment, NPS and Group Insurance. The essential qualification is a degree in Law from a recognised university along with nine years of executive experience in a legal establishment of any industrial, commercial or Government undertaking; a Post Graduate Degree in Law is desirable. The upper age limit is 40 years as on 1 September 2026, relaxed to 55 years for existing officers or employees of Major Port Authorities who possess the prescribed qualification and experience, with further relaxation for other categories as per Government of India guidelines. Applicants must be Indian citizens (or fall within specified categories such as subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, or persons of Indian origin who migrated under stated conditions), and candidates already employed in Central or State Government, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies or Statutory Bodies must apply through proper channel with a No Objection Certificate and vigilance clearance. Selection will be through a written examination and/or interview, with an 85:15 weightage between the two where both are held; mere fulfilment of eligibility criteria does not confer any right to be called for interview, and incomplete or late applications will be summarily rejected. Eligible candidates must apply online through the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways' Online Application Portal between 8 September 2026 and 9 October 2026, and additionally send a signed printout of the application with all supporting documents, an NOC (where applicable) and a Vigilance Clearance Proforma by post to reach the Secretary, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, by 26 October 2026.
