A sum of ₹ 750 is distributed among $A, B, C$ and $D$ in such a manner that $A$ gets as much as $B$ and $C$ together, $B$ gets $₹ 125$ more than $C$ and $D$ gets as much as $C$. What is $A^{\prime}$ 's share?
(a)₹ 100
(b)₹ 225
(c)₹ 275
(d)₹ 325
Answer
Answer (as printed): D
Explanation
Let D's share $=₹ x$. Then, C's share $=₹ x$. B's share $=₹(x+125)$. A's share $=₹(x+x+125)$ $$=₹(2 x+125) .$$ $\therefore \quad(2 x+125)+(x+125)+x+x=750$ $$\begin{aligned} & \Leftrightarrow \quad 5 x=500 \\ & \Leftrightarrow \quad x=100 \end{aligned}$$ Hence, A's share $=2 x+125=₹(2 \times 100+125)$ $$=₹ 325 .$$
