In a circle of radius 28 cm, an arc subtends an angle of 72° at the centre. Find the length of the arc and the area of the sector so formed.
Answer
Explanation
$r=28 \mathrm{cm}, \theta=72^{\circ}$. ∴ Length of arc $=\left(2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 28 \times \frac{72}{360}\right) \mathrm{cm}=35.2 \mathrm{cm}$. Area of the sector $=\left(\frac{22}{7} \times 28 \times 28 \times \frac{72}{360}\right) \mathrm{cm}^{2}=492.8 \mathrm{cm}^{2}$.
