How it converts

Result = value × (factor of the unit you convert from) ÷ (factor of the unit you convert to), every factor being the size of the unit in bit:
1 byte = 8 bit
1 KB = 8192 bit
1 MB = 8.388608 × 10⁶ bit
1 GB = 8.589935 × 10⁹ bit
1 TB = 8.796093 × 10¹² bit

Worked example

1 GB = 1 × 8.589935 × 10⁹ ÷ 8.388608 × 10⁶ = 1024 MB.
