Formed on 1 April 2016, the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) selects candidates for Group C (and some Group B) subordinate posts in Bihar Police and allied departments, most notably Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector, along with Enforcement SI, Excise SI, Range Officer of Forests and Assistant Superintendent of Prisons. Recruitment runs through a Preliminary and Main written examination followed by a physical test and document verification. BPSSC is headquartered in Patna and handles the higher subordinate ranks that sit above the constable-level posts recruited by CSBC.
