The Coir Board is a statutory body established under the Coir Industry Act 1953 for the promotion and development of the coir (coconut fibre) industry. It recruits technical/scientific officers (requiring a Master's degree in Science or Engineering) and ministerial staff such as Assistants and Lower Division Clerks, filled through direct recruitment or via the Staff Selection Commission. Its head office is in Kochi, Kerala, with a research and training office at Alappuzha.
