The Directorate General (Prisons), Government of NCT of Delhi administers Delhi’s prison complexes — Tihar, Rohini and Mandoli — among the largest prison complexes in South Asia, responsible for custody, security and reform/rehabilitation of undertrial and convicted prisoners in the capital. Direct recruitment to Warder, Head Warder and Assistant Superintendent posts is carried out by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB)/Staff Selection Commission on the department’s behalf, rather than by the Prisons Directorate itself.

Delhi Prisons (Tihar) recruits mainly through a written competitive examination. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group C.
