India has around 70 State Agricultural Universities accredited by ICAR, each an independent state statutory university responsible for agricultural education, research and extension in its own state, with its own separate recruitment for Assistant Professor, Scientist and technical/farm staff posts under state rules. ICAR does not itself recruit for these universities; it accredits them and administers the common ICAR-NET (via ASRB) that grants teaching-eligibility. The full current list of accredited SAUs is maintained on ICAR's education portal.

SAUs recruits mainly through a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B/contractual.
