02How it recruits
In plain words
IMD, established in 1875 under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, is India's national weather and climate service, issuing forecasts, warnings and observations for agriculture, aviation and disaster management. Scientific Assistant posts are recruited through a dedicated SSC examination; Meteorologist, Scientist and Project Staff posts are recruited directly by IMD, with all notifications published on its own recruitment page.
IMD recruits mainly through a written competitive examination, or a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B/C/contractual.
