02How it recruits

RGCC, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, conducts the decadal Census of India and maintains the Civil Registration System (births/deaths). During an actual census, most enumeration and supervisory work is done by government employees (teachers, panchayat staff) deployed on deputation rather than newly hired; the office separately recruits its own permanent administrative, technical and data-processing staff, with notifications published on its own website.

RGCC / Census recruits mainly through a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group B/C/contractual.
