02How it recruits
In plain words
The Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (renamed from the Foreign Service Institute in 2020), set up by the Ministry of External Affairs in 1986, trains newly-selected Indian Foreign Service officers (who are themselves recruited by UPSC through the Civil Services Examination — see the UPSC entry) and conducts other diplomatic training programmes. SSIFS itself occasionally recruits its own faculty, training-support and administrative staff.
SSIFS recruits mainly through direct recruitment, without a competitive exam, or a direct interview, without a separate written exam. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B.
Entry qualifications recorded: GraduatePost-graduate
