The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission is authorised to conduct examinations for Group C and Group D posts under the Government of Uttar Pradesh, such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, Forest Guard and Livestock Extension Officer. Candidates first clear the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET), whose score is then used as the qualifying screen for individual post-specific recruitments announced through the year. UPSSSC is headquartered in Lucknow and is distinct from UPPSC, which handles the state's gazetted (Group A/B) posts.
