Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Miniratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has invited online applications for a Nine (9) month internship under the Government of India's Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) at its Kochi facility. Seats are spread across several education levels: ITI trades such as Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Machinist and various mechanic and technician trades; SSLC-level Grinder, Painter and Scaffolder Intern roles; an HSE/ITI-level Warehouse Assistant Intern seat; Diploma-level internships in Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation and Mechanical Engineering, Catering/Hotel Management, Pharmacy and Nursing; a Graduation-level Clerical intern seat; and a Post-Graduation Hindi intern seat. Candidates must be aged 18 to 25 years and meet the qualification set for the relevant stream (10th pass for ITI trades, 10th/12th or ITI NTC for SSLC and HSE/ITI streams, a relevant engineering diploma for Diploma-level seats, a non-professional graduate degree for the Clerical seat, and an MA Hindi or MA Hindi with Translation for the Hindi intern seat). Graduates and postgraduates of IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, IISER, NIDs, IIITs and IISc are not eligible, nor are holders of CA/CMA/CS/MBBS/BDS/MD/MS/MBA/MPhil/PhD qualifications, anyone already undergoing a Central or State government skill, apprenticeship or internship scheme, anyone who has completed training under NATS or NAPS, anyone whose family income exceeded Rs 12 lakh in the preceding financial year, or anyone with a permanent/regular government employee in the immediate family. Shortlisting is based on marks obtained in the prescribed qualification, with age used as a tie-breaker; there is no application fee, no travel allowance and no boarding or lodging provided during the nine-month internship, which carries a monthly stipend of Rs 11,000 (ITI/SSLC/HSE-ITI streams) or Rs 13,000 (Diploma/Graduation/Post-Graduation streams), inclusive of Direct Benefit Transfer support from the Government of India.
