02How it recruits
In plain words
The Ministry of Defence civilian recruitment covers non-uniformed staff hired by the Department of Defence and its subordinate establishments - not the armed forces (Army/Navy/Air Force), which are recruited separately and listed under Defence in this directory. Civilian Group C recruitment runs largely through individual Ordnance Factories, the Military Engineer Services (MES) and similar Defence establishments, each publishing its own vacancy notices for posts such as Lower Division Clerk, Multi-Tasking Staff, Tradesman Mate and technical/accounts posts. DRDO's laboratories separately recruit Technical Assistants and Multi Tasking Staff through the centralised CEPTAM scheme run by DRDO's Recruitment and Assessment Centre. The Ministry's own Secretariat also periodically advertises clerical and stenographer posts. Notices are published on mod.gov.in and the respective establishment's own website as vacancies arise, without a single fixed annual calendar.
MoD Civilian recruits mainly through a written competitive examination, or a written examination followed by an interview, or direct recruitment, without a competitive exam. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group B/C.
