02How it recruits

The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), run by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, incentivises establishments to engage apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 by sharing part of the stipend cost. Candidates - ITI pass-outs, diploma holders, graduates and skill-certificate holders - register and apply for apprenticeship placements across 49 sectors in 36 states and UTs through the Apprenticeship India Portal on a rolling basis, not a fixed annual cycle.

NAPS recruits mainly through direct recruitment, without a competitive exam. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group apprentice.
