02How it recruits
In plain words
BARC is India's premier nuclear research institute, headquartered at Trombay, Mumbai, engaged in research across nuclear reactor technology, physics, chemistry, biology and engineering. Its main entry route for Scientific Officers is through Training School programmes - the Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES) and the Diploma/Degree Fellowship Scheme (DGFS) - which use GATE or UGC/CSIR-NET scores for shortlisting, followed by a year of training. Scientific Assistant and Technician entry runs through separate one- and two-year Stipendiary Trainee schemes for diploma and ITI holders respectively. Notifications for all schemes are published on BARC's own careers page.
BARC recruits mainly through a candidate's score in a national test such as GATE or NET, or a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/C.
