The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, under the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue, administers GST, Customs and Central Excise. Its Group A Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers come through UPSC, and Inspector/Tax Assistant posts largely through the Staff Selection Commission's CGL exam, while individual Customs/GST zones periodically run their own offline drives for Havaldar and sports-quota Tax Assistant vacancies, notified on the zone's own pages under cbic.gov.in.
