The Debts Recovery Tribunals and Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunals, set up under the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act 1993 to adjudicate bank-loan recovery cases, function under the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, with 39 DRTs and 5 DRATs across India. Each recruits its own registry staff periodically.
