Answer (as printed): D
Explanation
Let the C.P. of the whole be ₹ $x$. C.P. of $\frac{1}{4}$ th $=₹ \frac{x}{4}$, C.P. of $\frac{3}{4}$ th $=₹ \frac{3 x}{4}$. Total S.P. $=₹\left(110 \%\right.$ of $\frac{x}{4}+80 \%$ of $\left.\frac{3 x}{4}\right)$ $$=₹\left(\frac{11 x}{40}+\frac{3 x}{5}\right)=₹ \frac{7 x}{8} .$$ Loss $=₹\left(x-\frac{7 x}{8}\right)=₹ \frac{x}{8}$. $$\text { ∴ } \text { Loss } \%=\left(\frac{x}{8} \times \frac{1}{x} \times 100\right) \%=12.5 \% .$$
