(a)₹ 25000
(b)₹ 30000
(c)₹ 15000
(d)₹ 24000
Answer
Answer (as printed): D
Explanation
Let the monthly salary of Pia and Som be $5 a$ and $4 a$ respectively. Then money given by Pia to her mother $=5 a \times \frac{3}{5}=3 a$ Money given by Pia as sister's tuition fees $$=15 \% \text { of } 5 a=\frac{15 \times 5 a}{100}=\frac{75 a}{100} 0.75 a$$ Money given by Pia towards loan $$=18 \% \text { of } 5 a=\frac{18 \times 5 a}{100}=\frac{90 a}{100}=0.9 a$$ ∴ Total money given $=3 a+0.75 a+0.90 a=4.65 a$ ∴ Remaining amount $=5 a-4.65=0.35 a$ Pia have remaining amount $=₹ 2100$ $$\begin{aligned} & 0.35 a=2100 \\ & \therefore \frac{35 a}{100}=2100 \\ & \Rightarrow a=\frac{2100 \times 100}{35} \\ & a=₹ 6000 \end{aligned}$$ ∴ Monthly salary of Som $=4 a=4 \times 6000=₹ 24000$
