A rectangular farm has to be fenced on one long side, one short side and the diagonal. If the cost of fencing is ₹ 100 per m, the area of the farm is $1200 \mathrm{m}^{2}$ and the short side is 30 m long, how much would the job cost?

Explanation
Length $=\left(\frac{1200}{30}\right) \mathrm{m}=40 \mathrm{m}$. Diagonal $=\sqrt{(40)^{2}+(30)^{2}} \mathrm{m}=50 \mathrm{m}$. Length to be fenced $=(40+30+50) \mathrm{m}=120 \mathrm{m}$. ∴ Cost of fencing $=₹(120 \times 100)=₹ 12000$.
