The ratio of the outer and the inner perimeters of a circular path is 23 : 22. If the path is 5 metres wide, the diameter of the inner circle is
(a)55 m
(b)110 m
(c)220 m
(d)230 m
Answer
Explanation
$\frac{2 \pi R_{1}}{2 \pi R_{2}}=\frac{23}{22} \Leftrightarrow \frac{R_{1}}{R_{2}}=\frac{23}{22} \Leftrightarrow R_{1}=\frac{23}{22} R_{2}$. Also, $R_{1}-R_{2}=5 \mathrm{m}$ $$\Leftrightarrow \frac{23 R_{2}}{22}-R_{2}=5 \Leftrightarrow R_{2}=110 .$$ $\Leftrightarrow$ Diameter of inner circle $=(2 \times 110) \mathrm{m}=220 \mathrm{m}$.
