02How it recruits
In plain words
GSI, under the Ministry of Mines, is India's national geoscience survey and mapping organisation, conducting geological mapping, mineral exploration and natural-hazard studies. Its Group A Geologist/Geophysicist/Chemist cadre (Central Geological Service) is recruited through UPSC's annual Combined Geo-Scientist examination; the survey separately recruits its own technical and support staff, with notifications published on its own website.
GSI recruits mainly through a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/C.
