(a)₹21000
(b)₹24000
(c)₹27000
(d)₹36000
Answer
Answer (as printed): D
Explanation
Let the monthly salaries of Rene and Som be $5 a$ and $3 a$ respectively Money spent by Rene $=\left(\frac{1}{6}\right.$ of $5 a+\frac{1}{5}$ of $5 a+30 \%$ of $5 a+25 \%$ of $\left.5 a\right)$ According to given information $\Rightarrow 5 a-\left[5 a \times \frac{1}{6}+5 a \times \frac{1}{5}+5 a \times \frac{3}{10}+\frac{5 a}{4}\right]=5000$ $\Rightarrow 5 a-\left[\frac{5 a}{6}+a+\frac{3 a}{2}+\frac{5 a}{4}\right]=5000$ $\Rightarrow 5 a-\left(\frac{55 a}{12}\right)=5000$ $\Rightarrow 60 a-55 a=60000 \Rightarrow a=12000$ ∴ Som's salary $=3 \times 12000=₹ 36000$
