The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), formed in 2024 by merging the Assam Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, conducts the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test for Lower Primary and Upper Primary teaching posts. It is a qualifying exam; actual recruitment against vacancies is handled separately by the state education department.

ATET recruits mainly through a written competitive examination. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group C.
