02How it recruits

The Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), set up on 28 August 1970 under the Ministry of Home Affairs, works on modernisation of police forces, correctional administration research, and coordinates the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (NICFS) among other training establishments. BPR&D directly notifies research, technical and administrative vacancies in the Recruitment section of its own website (bprd.nic.in), alongside deputation postings from state and central police cadres.

BPR&D recruits mainly through a written examination followed by an interview, or direct recruitment, without a competitive exam. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B.
