02How it recruits
In plain words
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), established in 1956 under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, is India’s premier financial investigation agency, enforcing the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). ED’s officer cadre, from Assistant Director up to Additional Director, is staffed almost entirely through deputation from the Indian Revenue Service, IPS and other central cadres rather than fresh direct-entry recruitment; the Directorate notifies these deputation vacancies and limited ministerial support posts on its own website.
ED recruits mainly through direct recruitment, without a competitive exam. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B.
