The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), functioning under the Department of Personnel, Training and Pensions, is India’s premier investigating agency for corruption, economic offences and specially-referred serious crimes, headquartered at CGO Complex, New Delhi. Its Sub-Inspector cadre is largely staffed through the SSC Combined Graduate Level examination (see the separate SSC entry in this directory under Central Commissions), while CBI’s own website separately notifies specialist officer (IT/cyber/forensic) and senior deputation vacancies as and when they arise.

CBI recruits mainly through a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group B.
