The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), Dharamshala conducts the Himachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (HPTET), the state's qualifying exam for primary and elementary teaching posts in government or government-aided schools. HPTET is a minimum eligibility requirement; actual recruitment against vacancies is carried out separately by the HP Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC).
