02How it recruits
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, founded in 1929, makes direct recruitment to the state's civil, subordinate and ministerial services. Its Combined Civil Services Examinations are graded Group I (Deputy Collector, DSP and allied Group A posts), Group II/IIA (executive and non-executive posts), and Group IV/VAO (Village Administrative Officer and other Group C/D posts), alongside a Combined Engineering Services exam. TNPSC is headquartered in Chennai.
TNPSC recruits mainly through a written competitive examination, or a written examination followed by an interview. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group A/B/C.
