02How it recruits

The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE), an autonomous state-government body established in 1975, conducts the West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for primary-level (Classes I-V) teaching posts. Passing WBTET is a minimum eligibility requirement; actual recruitment against vacancies is carried out by the Board and, for upper-primary/secondary posts, by the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC).

WBTET recruits mainly through a written competitive examination. Posts recorded here are commonly classified as Group C.
