Court Marriage: Important Legal Distinction

• ‘Court Marriage’ आम बोलचाल का शब्द है। दिल्ली में Special Marriage Act के तहत solemnisation सामान्यतः अधिकृत Marriage Officer (जैसे SDM/ADM/Deputy Commissioner) के समक्ष होती है; इसे सीधे ‘courtroom marriage’ के रूप में advertise करना उचित नहीं है।
• दिल्ली Revenue Department के अनुसार intended marriage पर public notice और 30-day objection period लागू हो सकता है; solemnisation के दिन दोनों parties और 3 witnesses की उपस्थिति आवश्यक बताई गई है।
• Service fee को सरकारी fee से अलग दिखाएँ। Government charges, stamp/notary, translation, embassy and professional legal fees, where applicable, should be billed separately.

• Delhi Government information confirms that marriage registration can be handled under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or Special Marriage Act, 1954 depending on the case.
• Typical official requirements include identity, age/date-of-birth, residence proof, photographs, affidavits and marriage-related supporting documents; exact requirements vary by authority/case.
